The evolution of ROSS
What is now Recovery and Overdose Support Services (ROSS) began as a pilot program with the Kill Devil Hills Police Department in 2018. At that time, we had one Public Health Educator running the program on a part-time basis.
Our Program Today
We have two full-time Peer Support Specialists who are solely dedicated to running this program, each with a confidential county cell phone. Our program has a confidential email address community members can use to request support.
As Harm Reductionists and Peer Support Specialists, we believe: Recovery is not a one-size-fits-all process. We meet people where they are - not where we “expect” them or “hope” them to be.
Our Services
ROSS is designed to respond to community members who use drugs and those who are struggling with substance use, misuse, mental health, and/or trauma challenges. ROSS also supports family and friends of those who struggle.
Our program is free and available to all Dare County residents.
