Self-Compassion: Navigating Life’s Challenges Series

The Saving Lives Task Force is offering a virtual educational event called Self Compassion: Navigating Life’s Challenges Series at two separate times on December 15, 2021. The event will be held at 12:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.


The goal of the event is to teach participants how to extend compassion to themselves when they may feel like they have failed, experiencing emotional situations, or feel inadequate. Individuals will learn about the three main elements of self-compassion: self-kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness.


The event will be moderated by Roxana Ballinger, Saving Lives Task Force Co-Chair and Director of Health Education & Outreach Services with Dare County Department of Health & Human Services. Presenters include: Susan Lee, retired School Counselor, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Certified Community Resiliency Model Trainer; Louisa Farr, Occupational Therapist and Recovery advocate; Dave Edmonds, Peer Support Specialist; Christie McEwan,Therapist/owner Outer Banks Counseling Services; Katy Hasslar, Trauma-informed addiction, mental health, and victim advocate.
